Ruto: Youth Investments Creating Millions of Jobs as Migori Youth FC Receives Team Bus

President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to empowering young people through investments in sports, the creative economy, digital innovation, affordable housing, overseas employment, and infrastructure, saying the initiatives are creating millions of opportunities for Kenya's youth.

Speaking at State House, Nairobi, where he hosted the 2025/26 National Super League champions Migori Youth FC, the President said the government's youth-focused agenda is designed to enable young Kenyans to actively participate in the country's socio-economic transformation.

"We are empowering young people to contribute to the transformation of our nation and become the architects of Kenya's future," President Ruto said.

The Head of State noted that government investments across key sectors are opening up employment opportunities while providing platforms for young people to nurture their talents and build sustainable livelihoods.

"Our investments in sports, the creative and digital economy, overseas employment, business support, affordable housing, and infrastructure development are creating millions of jobs and other opportunities for our young people," he said.

As part of the government's efforts to strengthen sports development, President Ruto revealed that 34 stadiums are either under construction or being upgraded across the country to support talent development and improve access to modern sporting facilities.

"In sports alone, we are building and upgrading 34 stadia across the country to support talent development and expand opportunities for young people," he added.

The President said the investments are already bearing fruit, pointing to Kenya's continued success on the international athletics stage and the recent qualification of the Junior Harambee Starlets for the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup—a historic achievement for Kenyan women's football.

During the event, President Ruto handed over a new team bus to Migori Youth FC to facilitate the club's travel as it prepares for life in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League following its promotion after winning the 2025/26 National Super League title.

He congratulated the club for its remarkable achievement, saying the government will continue supporting grassroots football as a pathway for youth empowerment and national development.

The President also announced that the government is constructing a modern stadium in Migori County to provide Migori Youth FC and other athletes with quality facilities for training and competition.

"We are building a modern stadium in Migori County to provide the team and the wider community with quality facilities for nurturing local talent," he said.

The government's continued investment in sports infrastructure forms part of its broader strategy to identify, nurture, and commercialize talent while creating employment opportunities for thousands of young Kenyans through the sports industry.
