Ruto to Lead KSh50,000 Youth Grant Disbursement for 122,000 Beneficiaries Nationwide
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has announced that the government will on Friday disburse the second tranche of KSh50,000 business support grants to 122,000 young people across the country.
The beneficiaries, aged between 18 and 29 years, will receive the funds under a nationwide youth empowerment programme aimed at supporting small businesses, entrepreneurship and job creation.
According to Kindiki, at least 70 beneficiaries from every ward across Kenya will receive the grants in the latest phase of the programme.
A further 33,000 young people, evenly distributed across the country, have also been selected as a new cohort of beneficiaries and will receive KSh50,000 each to support their business ventures.
President William Ruto will oversee the main disbursement event in Nairobi, while Cabinet Secretaries will represent him at 17 other locations across the country.
The events will be linked live to the Nairobi ceremony, allowing beneficiaries from several counties to converge at each of the 18 meeting sites for the simultaneous disbursement exercise.
Kindiki said the government is finalising plans to ensure the programme is conducted smoothly and that the President’s message to the youth is communicated across all venues.
The Deputy President spoke after meeting Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries in Karen, Nairobi, where they agreed on the programme and modalities for running the simultaneous events.
The KSh50,000 grants are expected to boost youth-owned enterprises, provide start-up capital and expand opportunities for young Kenyans seeking to create jobs through business.
