Passaris Hails NYOTA Programme as Thousands of Youth Receive Start-Up Capital
Nairobi Woman Representative Hon. Esther Passaris has lauded the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Programme as a transformative initiative that is empowering young Kenyans with the skills, resources, and confidence to become entrepreneurs and job creators.
Speaking during the NYOTA Second Start-Up Capital Disbursement at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi, Hon. Passaris described the atmosphere as one filled with hope and optimism as thousands of young people gathered to receive financial support after successfully completing business training and mentorship programmes.
She noted that the event was being replicated simultaneously across the country, highlighting the programme's national reach and the Government's commitment to investing in the country's youthful population. More than 122,000 young Kenyans who have undergone entrepreneurship training are set to receive start-up capital to launch or expand their businesses.
Hon. Passaris welcomed the presence of President Dr. William Samoei Ruto, saying the occasion reflected a shared national commitment to empowering young people through practical economic opportunities. She emphasized that sustainable poverty reduction requires a comprehensive approach that combines quality education, market-oriented skills, mentorship, access to affordable capital, and expanded market opportunities.
According to the Nairobi Woman Representative, the NYOTA Programme brings together these critical elements, equipping young entrepreneurs with the tools they need to establish viable enterprises, create employment, and contribute to Kenya's economic transformation.
She congratulated all beneficiaries across the country, expressing confidence that the support would unlock innovation, strengthen the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, and inspire a new generation of business leaders.
Hon. Passaris reaffirmed that investing in youth entrepreneurship is one of the most effective ways to accelerate inclusive economic growth, reduce unemployment, and build resilient communities, adding that the success of the NYOTA Programme will be measured not only by the businesses established but also by the lasting social and economic impact created across Kenya.
