John Wanyama Launches Mass Voter Registration Drive Across Malava

A major voter registration mobilisation campaign has been launched in Malava Constituency, with residents being urged to turn out in large numbers and register ahead of the upcoming electoral processes.

The initiative, spearheaded by John Wanyama, will run from July 21 to July 30 and is expected to cover several wards across the constituency, including Manda Shivanga, Shirugu Mugai, South Kabras, Butali Chegulo, West Kabras, Chimuche and East Kabras.

According to the registration schedule, the exercise will begin on July 21 at Tombo Market in Manda Shivanga Ward before moving to Shirugu Mugai Ward on July 22. Residents of South Kabras Ward will be reached on July 23 at Chevoso Primary School, while Butali Chegulo Ward will host the drive at Chegulo Market on July 25.

The campaign will continue on July 26 at Imbiakalo Church of God in West Kabras Ward, followed by Mukhoonje K in Chimuche Ward on July 27. On July 28, the registration drive will be held at Mukhuyu Shopping Centre in East Kabras Ward before returning to South Kabras Ward on July 29 at Chevoso Primary School.

The grand climax is scheduled for July 30 at Malava Primary School, where organisers say residents will also be treated to entertainment from musicians from Malava.

The mobilisation drive is expected to attract hundreds of young people and first-time voters, with organisers offering free lunch and transportation to encourage participation.

Wanyama said the campaign is aimed at empowering residents to take part in shaping the future of Malava and the country through the ballot.

“Your vote, your voice, our future. We want every eligible resident to come out, register and be ready to participate in leadership decisions,” reads part of the campaign message.

The initiative comes amid growing calls for increased voter registration, especially among young people, as political leaders intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the next General Election.
