Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government's commitment to accelerating development projects across Meru County, saying ongoing investments in roads, fresh produce markets, electricity connectivity and healthcare are aimed at improving livelihoods and stimulating economic growth.

Speaking on Sunday after attending a worship service and a resource mobilization event for the construction of the Laare Cathedral and the headquarters of the Igembe Methodist Synod in Igembe North Constituency, Kindiki said the Kenya Kwanza administration remains focused on delivering projects that directly benefit wananchi.

The Deputy President said the government is fast-tracking the construction and rehabilitation of roads across Meru County to improve connectivity, lower transport costs and facilitate the movement of people and agricultural produce. He added that the establishment of modern fresh produce markets will provide farmers with better trading spaces and boost incomes, while ongoing electricity connections will support businesses and expand access to power for households.

Kindiki also highlighted the government's investments in the health sector, noting that the ongoing upgrade of Meru Level 5 Hospital and the modernization of Maua Level 4 Hospital will enhance the quality of healthcare services and improve access to specialized treatment for residents.

He said the projects are part of the government's broader agenda to strengthen public service delivery and ensure that development reaches every part of the country.

After the church service and fundraising event, the Deputy President stopped in Laare Township, where he greeted residents who had gathered to welcome him. He thanked the people of Igembe North for their continued support and urged them to remain united as the government rolls out key development programmes.

Kindiki emphasized that collaboration between national and local leaders, the business community, professionals and religious institutions is essential in driving socio-economic transformation and ensuring that development initiatives achieve their intended impact.

The event was attended by area political leaders, business people, professionals and religious leaders, who joined the Deputy President in supporting the construction of the Laare Cathedral and the Igembe Methodist Synod headquarters while reaffirming their commitment to the region's growth and development.
