Chebisas Girls Students Explore Career Opportunities During Educational Visit to Eldoret National Polytechnic
The Eldoret National Polytechnic opened its doors to teachers and students from Chebisas Girls High School on July 8, 2026, for an educational visit aimed at exposing learners to technical and vocational education, career opportunities, and practical skills in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The visit, coordinated by the Polytechnic's Office of Career Services in collaboration with the Management Information Systems (MIS) and ICT Department, provided the students with firsthand experience of the institution's training facilities and academic programmes.
During the tour, the learners were introduced to a wide range of ICT tools, computer networking concepts, and practical technology applications used in modern workplaces. They also visited the Polytechnic's state-of-the-art ICT laboratories, where trainers demonstrated how students acquire hands-on digital skills that are increasingly in demand across various industries.
The visitors received comprehensive career guidance from the Career Services Office, with facilitators highlighting the diverse diploma, certificate, and artisan programmes available at the institution. The sessions focused on helping students understand the numerous career pathways offered through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Beyond the ICT Department, the students toured several academic departments, interacting with trainers and observing practical lessons designed to equip learners with industry-relevant competencies. The delegation also visited the Polytechnic Library, where they learned about the institution's learning resources and the role of research in supporting academic excellence.
The Eldoret National Polytechnic Chief principal Dr Charles Koech noted that such academic visits play a vital role in bridging the gap between secondary education and higher learning by giving students an opportunity to experience real training environments before making career decisions.
The visit also enabled the learners to engage directly with trainers and students, ask questions about admission requirements, and gain insights into life at one of Kenya's leading TVET institutions.
The Eldoret National Polytechnic has continued to strengthen career awareness initiatives by hosting educational tours for secondary schools, supporting the government's agenda of promoting technical and vocational education as a key driver of skills development, innovation, and employment.
By the end of the visit, the Chebisas Girls High School students had gained a deeper appreciation of the value of technical education and left better informed about the educational and career opportunities available to them as they prepare for life after secondary school.
