Police in Kenya have launched investigations after human male genitalia were discovered dumped along the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway on Thursday, in a disturbing incident that has shocked motorists and nearby residents.
The remains were reportedly spotted by members of the public travelling along the busy highway, who immediately alerted authorities. Police officers responded swiftly, secured the scene, and prevented further disturbance of potential evidence.
The recovered remains were taken for forensic examination as investigators work to identify the victim and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“This is a serious criminal matter. We are treating it with urgency and all possible leads are being followed,” a police spokesperson said.
Detectives are now seeking to establish the identity of the victim, trace the location where the incident may have occurred, and determine how the body part ended up along the highway.
Investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas and appealing to members of the public for any information that could assist in the investigation.
“The public should remain calm as we continue with investigations,” the spokesperson added. “We assure Kenyans that those responsible will be brought to justice.”
The incident has sparked concern among regular users of the highway, with many expressing shock over the unusual discovery. Security experts note that cases involving human remains being abandoned in public places are rare in Kenya but are treated as high-priority investigations due to their severity.
According to crime trend analyses by Kenyan security agencies, incidents involving the disposal of human body parts along major highways remain uncommon, often triggering intensive forensic and multi-agency investigations.
