Leaders Raise KSh 4.2 Million for Chekalini PAG District Headquarters Construction
A major fundraising event held at Chekalini Primary School in Lugari Constituency has raised KSh 4.2 million towards the construction of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) District Headquarters, a project expected to benefit more than 32 churches across the region.
The Harambee was hosted by Lugari Member of Parliament Nabii Nabwera and brought together prominent national and regional leaders, including the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Masika Wetang'ula and President William Ruto's aide Farouk Kibet.
The event attracted a large congregation of religious leaders, elected representatives, community members, stakeholders, and well-wishers who rallied behind the church project aimed at strengthening faith-based services and community development initiatives within the district.
Speaking during the occasion, MP Nabwera lauded the overwhelming support demonstrated by leaders and residents, noting that the successful fundraiser reflected the community's commitment to promoting spiritual growth and social development.
"The construction of the PAG District Headquarters will serve more than 32 churches and provide a strong foundation for faith-based programs that contribute significantly to the well-being of our people," he said.
The legislator emphasized the important role played by religious institutions in fostering social cohesion, moral values, and community empowerment. He reiterated his commitment to supporting faith-based organizations through partnerships, collaboration, and networking opportunities aimed at accelerating development.
Nabwera further stated that community-driven initiatives such as the Chekalini project complement government efforts in improving livelihoods and creating opportunities for local residents.
In his capacity as Secretary-General of the Western MPs Caucus, the MP also called for greater unity among the Luhya community and urged residents of Western Kenya to embrace issue-based leadership and development-focused politics.
He challenged leaders and citizens alike to prioritize programs that promote economic empowerment, progress, and shared prosperity rather than divisive political interests.
The fundraising event concluded with leaders pledging continued support for the completion of the district headquarters, which is expected to become a key center for religious activities and community outreach programs in the region.
