HUBZ MEDIA ELDORET CHAMPIONS MEN'S MENTAL HEALTH, TEAMWORK, AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH

Beyond the daily headlines, deadlines, cameras, and microphones, Hubz Media Eldoret is building something extraordinary—a culture founded on unity, friendship, professional growth, and mental wellness.

Every Friday, members of the Hubz Media family take a break from the demanding newsroom environment to engage in activities that promote relaxation, connection, and team bonding. Through shared meals, music, games, laughter, and open conversations, colleagues strengthen relationships that extend beyond the workplace.

Speaking during one of the team-building sessions, Hubz Media Eldoret Vice Chairperson Edmond Kipng'eno emphasized the importance of creating time for interaction and mental rejuvenation among journalists.

"Journalists are known to be occupied by work from Monday to Friday. We saw it fit to create opportunities for interaction and to break the monotony of newsroom work. When you work for a long time without taking time to relax and recharge, your productivity can be affected," said Kipng'eno.

He noted that the weekly gatherings have become an important platform for promoting teamwork, improving morale, and supporting positive mental health among media practitioners.

As the world marks Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, journalists and students attached to the media hub are encouraging men to speak openly about their struggles and seek help whenever necessary.

The sessions provide journalists, photographers, videographers, presenters, and content creators with an opportunity to unwind, recharge, and support one another. They also create a safe space where conversations around mental health can take place without stigma.

Violet Akinyi, a student attached to the media hub, praised the initiative, saying it has helped foster stronger bonds among members.

"At Hubz Media Eldoret, it's not only about work. It's also about team building, where we come together, share meals, play games, and interact freely. These moments help us grow both professionally and personally," she said.

Kipng'eno further noted that sports and recreational activities play a crucial role in helping journalists clear their minds and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

"We normally dedicate Fridays to activities that allow journalists to interact and engage in sports and other recreational events. This helps them free their minds, reduce stress, and remain motivated in their work," he added.

Apart from fostering wellness, Hubz Media Eldoret continues to nurture talent and professional development. Young journalists and media practitioners are provided with opportunities to sharpen their skills, gain hands-on experience, and grow in various aspects of storytelling and media production.

According to the management, strong teamwork is the foundation of impactful journalism. The organization believes that collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning are essential ingredients for success in today's fast-changing media landscape.

As it continues to tell compelling stories from across the region, Hubz Media Eldoret remains committed to building not only outstanding journalists but also strong friendships, confident professionals, and a united media family dedicated to making a positive impact in society.
