Women Groups in Kiambaa Receive Ksh 500,000 Boost in NGAAF Empowerment Drive
Women and community groups in Kiambaa Constituency have received a major financial boost after the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) issued empowerment cheques worth Ksh 100,000 each during a colorful event held at Gachie in Kihara Ward, Kiambu County.
The empowerment exercise benefited five women-led self-help groups drawn from different wards within the constituency, with leaders describing the initiative as a key step toward grassroots economic transformation and community development.
Among the beneficiaries were Kawaida Old Ladies Self Help Group and Miracle Ladies 2010 from Cianda Ward, Karuri Zion Self Help Group and Kiambaa Blessed Ten Group from Karuri Ward, as well as K Wise Women Self Help Group from Kihara Ward.
The groups received the non-refundable cheques under the NGAAF Empowerment Program, which seeks to support women, vulnerable groups, and community-based organizations through financial assistance aimed at improving livelihoods and creating sustainable opportunities.
Speaking during the event, local leaders reiterated their commitment to empowering women and strengthening grassroots development initiatives across Kiambaa Constituency.
They noted that supporting women groups remains essential in promoting financial independence, boosting small businesses, and enhancing family welfare within local communities.
Residents who attended the event welcomed the initiative, saying the funds would help expand income-generating activities, table banking projects, and other community-driven ventures that directly benefit families.
The empowerment drive forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen social and economic development in Kiambu County through targeted support for organized community groups.
Leaders further emphasized that empowering women continues to be at the heart of their broader vision for inclusive growth, opportunity creation, and long-term transformation across the constituency.
