Wetang’ula Visits Ailing Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi After India Treatment
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula on Thursday visited Ferdinand Wanyonyi at his residence to assess his recovery following recent specialised medical treatment in India.
Speaking after the visit, Wetang’ula said he had conveyed the goodwill and solidarity of the National Assembly to the legislator, while wishing him a speedy and full recovery so he could soon resume serving the people of Kwanza Constituency and the country.
The Speaker noted that Parliament remained united in supporting its members during moments of both strength and vulnerability, describing the institution as one bound by duty and mutual care.
Wetang’ula also assured residents of Kwanza that development programmes and strategic initiatives initiated by Wanyonyi were continuing uninterrupted despite the MP’s temporary absence.
“Notwithstanding his temporary absence, the people of Kwanza remain well served. The development programmes and strategic initiatives he championed continue to be diligently implemented and closely monitored to ensure their intended impact is fully realised,” Wetang’ula said.
The Speaker further emphasised the importance of solidarity among leaders, noting that Parliament continues to stand together during times of celebration and adversity alike.
Among the leaders who accompanied Wetang’ula during the visit were Wafula Wakoli, Connie Wakwabubi, and Susan Nakhumicha, among other dignitaries.
Wanyonyi recently returned to Kenya after undergoing treatment in India, with leaders expressing optimism over his recovery and eventual return to active parliamentary duties.
