More than 80 senior government officials and institutional leaders from the Kenya Police Service, Administration Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service, KEPSHA, and KESSHA today converged in Baringo County for a groundbreaking Corporate Health Seminar hosted by Tophill Hospital under the leadership of CEO and lead surgeon Dr. Florentius Koech.

The high-level engagement attracted senior decision-makers, security commanders, education stakeholders, and institutional administrators for strategic discussions focused on the growing health challenges affecting employees, workplaces, and public institutions across Kenya.

The seminar comes at a time when many organizations are grappling with increasing cases of mental health disorders, lifestyle diseases, workplace stress, and productivity-related health complications among staff members.

Addressing participants during the event, Dr. Florentius Koech emphasized the urgent need for both public and private institutions to move beyond treatment-centered healthcare systems and embrace preventive healthcare and wellness programs designed to improve employee wellbeing and organizational performance.

According to Dr. Koech, investing in preventive healthcare is no longer optional for institutions seeking to maintain productive, motivated, and resilient workforces in today’s demanding environment.

“Many organizations are spending huge amounts of resources treating illnesses that could have been prevented through early screening, wellness education, mental health support, and healthier workplace practices,” he said.

He noted that modern workplaces are increasingly exposing employees to stress, burnout, poor posture-related complications, chronic illnesses, and mental health challenges that negatively impact productivity and quality of life.

The seminar featured comprehensive presentations and interactive sessions on several key health issues currently affecting institutions and workplaces across the country. Among the major topics discussed were ergonomics and workplace posture, mental health awareness, cancer prevention and early screening, reproductive health, lifestyle disease management, and preparedness towards emerging emergency health conditions.

Medical experts at the forum highlighted the growing burden of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and obesity, warning that many employees often seek medical attention only after conditions become severe.

Participants were also sensitized on the importance of regular medical checkups, stress management, healthy nutrition, physical activity, and creating supportive workplace environments that promote both physical and mental wellness.

Mental health emerged as one of the central themes of the seminar, with speakers calling on institutions to prioritize counseling services, employee wellness programs, and awareness campaigns aimed at reducing stigma associated with mental health conditions.

Security sector leaders who attended the forum acknowledged that officers and institutional staff often operate under intense pressure and stressful working conditions that can significantly affect their mental and emotional wellbeing if not properly addressed.

Education stakeholders from KEPSHA and KESSHA also emphasized the need for schools and learning institutions to prioritize the health of teachers, administrators, and support staff as part of broader efforts to improve performance and create healthier learning environments.

Participants described the seminar as timely, informative, practical, and highly impactful, noting that the discussions provided valuable insights that can help institutions develop healthier and more productive teams.

Several attendees praised Tophill Hospital for creating a platform that brought together leaders from different sectors to openly discuss emerging health concerns affecting Kenya’s workforce.

The event further reinforced Tophill Hospital’s growing reputation as one of Kenya’s leading healthcare institutions championing preventive medicine, corporate wellness partnerships, and community-centered healthcare solutions.
