Trans Nzoia Mourns as 106-Year-Old Patriarch Mzee Michael Kura Dies
Residents of Trans Nzoia County are mourning the death of respected elder and farmer Mzee Michael Cheptoo Kura, who passed away at the age of 106.
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Wednesday sent his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and relatives of the late patriarch, describing him as a man whose life positively impacted generations.
In his condolence message, Governor Natembeya said he received news of Mzee Kura’s passing with shock and sadness, noting that the deceased was widely respected within the community and the Catholic Church.
“I wish to express sympathy to the family of the respected patriarch who made a positive impact on his community and the Catholic Church where his faith was anchored,” said the governor.
Natembeya praised Mzee Kura for dedicating his life to serving both the community and the church, adding that his legacy would continue to inspire many.
“We honour Mzee Michael for a life well lived in service to his community and the church. He touched many lives through his kindness, generosity and steady guidance,” he added.
The late Mzee Kura was known as a devoted farmer, elder and mentor whose wisdom and leadership earned him admiration across Trans Nzoia and beyond.
Leaders, church members and residents have continued to pour in tributes celebrating his long life, strong faith and commitment to community unity.
