Otiende Amollo Rallies 31 Chiefs in Bold Push to Fix ID Delays, Boost Voter Registration and Fast-Track Development in Rarieda

A high-level consultative meeting convened by Otiende Amollo on Thursday brought together all 31 Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs serving across Rarieda Constituency in a renewed effort to strengthen grassroots service delivery and improve coordination between government institutions.

The meeting, co-chaired by Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Njuguna, focused on pressing issues affecting residents, including delays in national identity card issuance, voter registration, last mile electricity connectivity, relief food distribution and collaboration between the National Government, County Government and the Constituency Office.

Leaders who attended the forum described the engagement as timely and critical, particularly as residents continue to demand improved access to government services and development opportunities.

Speaking during the session, Hon. Dr. Otiende Amollo SC, CBS, EBS emphasized the importance of close cooperation between administrators and elected leaders in ensuring effective delivery of public services at the grassroots level.

He noted that Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs remain central to the implementation of government programmes due to their daily interaction with wananchi.

The legislator expressed concern over persistent delays in the issuance of national identity cards to eligible youths, warning that the challenge continues to deny many young people access to employment opportunities, higher education admissions, banking services and participation in democratic processes.

“Identity cards are not merely documents of identification. They are gateways to opportunity and full participation in national life,” said the MP.

The meeting also extensively discussed voter registration, with leaders calling for intensified civic awareness campaigns across villages and sub-locations to encourage eligible residents to register as voters.

Hon. Otiende Amollo stressed that strong democratic governance depends on active citizen participation, adding that voter registration should be treated as both a constitutional right and civic responsibility.

Administrators attending the meeting pledged to strengthen public sensitization efforts ahead of future voter registration exercises to ensure greater participation among residents.

Last mile electricity connectivity also featured prominently in the discussions, with several administrators highlighting areas within the constituency that remain underserved despite ongoing rural electrification programmes.

The MP reaffirmed his commitment to engaging relevant government agencies to accelerate electricity connections to homes, schools, health facilities and trading centres across Rarieda.

“Electricity connectivity is no longer a luxury but a necessity for social and economic transformation,” he stated.

Relief food distribution and food security concerns equally dominated part of the discussions, as administrators shared updates on vulnerable households facing economic hardships and food shortages in different parts of the constituency.

Leaders reviewed mechanisms aimed at ensuring relief food reaches deserving families in a fair, transparent and accountable manner.

Hon. Otiende Amollo commended Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs for their dedication in supporting communities despite operational challenges, acknowledging their role in maintaining peace, mobilizing residents, coordinating emergency responses and facilitating government programmes at the grassroots.

Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Njuguna praised the spirit of cooperation demonstrated during the engagement and lauded the Rarieda legislator for convening a solutions-oriented meeting focused on issues affecting ordinary wananchi.

He noted that regular consultations between elected leaders and administrators are crucial in improving service delivery and strengthening trust between citizens and government institutions.

The meeting further underscored the need for seamless collaboration between the National Government, County Government and the Constituency Office in implementing development projects and responding to emerging community concerns.

Participants agreed that enhanced coordination would help eliminate duplication of efforts while ensuring resources are directed toward priority areas.

Several Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs welcomed the consultative approach adopted during the forum, saying it provided a valuable platform to share experiences, raise concerns and propose practical solutions to challenges affecting residents.

Observers noted that the engagement reflected Hon. Otiende Amollo’s leadership style, which has consistently emphasized consultation, accountability and people-centered governance.

By bringing together all administrators within the constituency, the MP created an avenue for frank discussions and collective problem-solving on matters directly touching on the welfare of the people of Rarieda.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment among leaders to continue working together to promote effective governance, improve public service delivery and accelerate development initiatives across the constituency.

Leaders expressed optimism that the strengthened collaboration between administrators, the Constituency Office and government agencies would help fast-track solutions to challenges facing residents while contributing to the growth and stability of Rarieda.
