Murkomen: Kenya Kwanza Creating Favourable Environment for MSMEs and Start-ups

Kipchumba Murkomen has said the government is implementing deliberate and targeted interventions aimed at creating a favourable environment for start-ups and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to thrive across the country.

Speaking during the Bahati-Subukia Youth and Women Empowerment Initiative held at Jomo Kenyatta Boys Senior School Grounds, Murkomen said the Kenya Kwanza Administration is committed to empowering citizens at the bottom of the economic pyramid through inclusive economic support programmes.

The Interior Cabinet Secretary noted that the empowerment initiative aligns with the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which seeks to uplift ordinary Kenyans through enterprise development, job creation and access to economic opportunities.

Murkomen praised Susan Kihika for spearheading the programme, saying it complements national security efforts by creating sustainable alternative income-generating opportunities for young people and women.

“The initiative complements the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda and supports our security programmes by creating sustainable alternative income-generating opportunities,” said Murkomen.

The event brought together several leaders from across the country, including Cecily Mbarire, Bahati MP Irene Njoki, Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria, Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi, Gatundu North MP Elijah Kururia and Taita Taveta Woman Representative Lydia Haika.

Others present included Nyeri Woman Representative Rahab Mukami, nominated Senator Veronica Maina, East African Legislative Assembly member Falhada Dekow Iman, Nakuru County Commissioner Dr. Loyford Kibaara and several Members of County Assembly (MCAs).

Leaders at the event reiterated the importance of empowering youth and women through entrepreneurship, financial inclusion and community-driven development programmes to accelerate economic growth and social stability.
