NPS Taekwondo Team Shines at Mombasa Chairman’s Cup, Wins Five Gold Medals

The National Police Service Taekwondo team has once again showcased its exceptional skill and discipline, securing a second-place overall finish at the Mombasa County Taekwondo Chairman's Cup Championship, held at the Aga Khan Hall.

The four-day event, sanctioned by the Kenya Taekwondo Federation, began on June 3 with a specialised two-day World Taekwondo Seminar aimed at advancing technical skills, culminating in a fiercely contested championship tournament.

Facing stiff competition from 19 teams representing various regions and formations across Kenya, the NPS team impressed with tactical precision, endurance, and combat readiness. The team clinched a total of eight medals, including five gold, one silver, and two bronze.

Gold medalists included Ann Jumwa, Sophy Clay, Stacy Dock, Jully Musangi, and Venus Joshua, each triumphing in their respective weight categories. Their achievements were lauded as a testament to the training, discipline, and fitness standards upheld by the Service.

While the Nairobi Regional Taekwondo Club claimed the top overall position, the NPS team’s performance highlighted the organisation’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent and maintaining peak physical excellence among its officers.

The National Police Service extended congratulations to the entire team for their exemplary performance, noting that such achievements reflect positively on both the Service and the country’s broader sporting community.

“The dedication and resilience displayed by our Taekwondo team are a source of pride. Their success demonstrates that discipline, hard work, and teamwork can propel our officers to national prominence,” said a spokesperson for the NPS.

The event has further reinforced the importance of sports in fostering camaraderie, physical fitness, and tactical skills among officers, contributing to the broader goals of service readiness and community engagement.
