North Rift Leaders Attend Installation of Coadjutor Archbishop in Mombasa

A delegation of leaders from Kenya’s North Rift region joined hundreds of faithful in Mombasa for the installation of Coadjutor Archbishop Dominic Kimengich in a ceremony marked by prayer, unity, and reflection on leadership in the Church.

Among those in attendance were Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi, Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, and Principal Secretary Kipsang Belio. The leaders joined clergy, religious faithful, and dignitaries from across the country in witnessing the significant ecclesiastical event.

The installation ceremony, held at a packed cathedral, signaled a new chapter for the Catholic Church in the coastal region, with Archbishop Kimengich expected to assist and eventually succeed the current archbishop. The role of a coadjutor archbishop is critical in ensuring continuity of leadership and strengthening pastoral work within the archdiocese.

Faithful who attended the ceremony described the occasion as historic and spiritually uplifting, with many expressing optimism about the future of the Church under the new leadership.

The installation drew participants from various dioceses across the country, underscoring the national significance of the event and the influence of the Catholic Church in Kenya’s social and spiritual life.

As Archbishop Kimengich begins his new mission, both religious and political leaders expressed hope that his tenure will strengthen faith, unity, and service to communities across the region.
