Kindiki Hosts Maara Leaders in High-Level Talks at Irunduni Residence
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday held a consultative meeting with grassroots leaders from Maara Constituency at his Irunduni residence, in a move aimed at strengthening collaboration between the national government and local communities.
The delegation, led by Maara Member of Parliament Kareke Mbiuki, comprised community opinion leaders and development stakeholders who presented key concerns and priorities affecting residents.
During the meeting, Prof. Kindiki reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development, emphasizing the importance of engaging directly with grassroots leaders to better understand the needs of citizens.
“Our focus is to ensure that development reaches every corner of the country. Listening to grassroots leaders allows us to respond effectively to the real challenges facing wananchi,” he said.
Among the issues raised were the need to improve road infrastructure, enhance market access for farmers, and expand opportunities for youth employment. Leaders also highlighted challenges in the agricultural sector, particularly the rising cost of farm inputs and the need for stronger support for tea and coffee farmers.
MP Mbiuki welcomed the engagement, noting that such forums provide a critical bridge between national policy and local implementation. He expressed optimism that the concerns raised would inform government action and accelerate development in the constituency.
The Deputy President assured the delegation that the government is rolling out targeted interventions to boost agricultural productivity and improve livelihoods, particularly in rural areas.
The Irunduni meeting forms part of ongoing nationwide consultations by Prof. Kindiki as the government seeks to deepen its connection with grassroots leadership and fast-track service delivery.
