Kaburwo Council of Elders Elects New Leadership in Nandi County

 


The Kaburwo Council of Elders in Nandi County has officially ushered in a new leadership team, marking a significant moment for the community institution known for its role in cultural preservation, guidance, and conflict resolution.

The elections, held in a peaceful and unified atmosphere, brought together respected elders and community members committed to strengthening traditional leadership structures. Elder Augustine Kisorio was elected as the new Chairperson, taking over the mantle of guiding the council’s vision and activities.

He will be deputized by Elder John Yego, who assumes the role of Vice Chairperson. The council also entrusted Elder Mourisin Arap Kogo with the responsibility of Treasurer, while Elder Joel Kitur was elected Secretary. Supporting him will be Assistant Secretary Elder Stephen Sitienei. Elder Dr. David Kiprop completes the leadership team as the Organising Secretary.

Speaking after the announcement, members of the council emphasized the importance of unity, cultural continuity, and mentorship within the community. The newly elected leaders are expected to play a vital role in advising on social matters, resolving disputes, and mentoring younger generations in line with long-standing traditions.
