Family Announces Funeral Itinerary for Capt. William Ruto’s Late Daughter
The family of Capt. William Ruto, Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), has released a detailed funeral programme for his daughter, Mitchell Jelimo Kemboi, following her tragic death in a road accident last Friday in Taita Taveta County.
Mitchell, a teenager, lost her life when the family vehicle collided with a stationary trailer while they were reportedly travelling from Mombasa towards Tanzania for the Easter holiday.
According to the family’s itinerary, Mitchell’s body will be moved from a Mombasa hospital mortuary to Nakuru County today (Wednesday, April 8) in preparation for the funeral events.
A fundraising event to support burial arrangements was held on Tuesday, April 7, at the family’s home in Mochongoi village, Eldama‑Ravine, where relatives, community members and well‑wishers have been gathering to pay condolence visits.
The funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mochongoi family home, where mourners will join the Ruto family in celebrating Mitchell’s life and paying their respects.
Following the service, Mitchell will be laid to rest on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the family’s Kabarak residence in Nakuru County.
Daily condolence meetings at the Ruto family home in Eldama‑Ravine have been attended by friends, relatives and community leaders, providing a space for supporters to share memories and offer comfort to the grieving family.
The accident that claimed Mitchell’s life also left Capt. Ruto and other family members injured; they were treated in hospital and have since been reported to be stable.
