Cherargei Dismisses Kisumu Rally Images as AI-Generated, Defends Oburu Odinga’s Influence

Nandi Senator Kiprotich Cherargei has dismissed images circulating online from a recent political rally in Kisumu, claiming they were generated using artificial intelligence and do not reflect the true situation on the ground.

In a strongly worded statement, the senator alleged that visuals shared by a group he referred to as the “Linda Mwananchi team” were misleading and aimed at exaggerating the turnout at the lakeside event.

“The pictures you see being shared about the Kisumu rally are artificial intelligence-generated photos. They will not translate into votes,” Cherargei said.

He further downplayed the significance of the gathering, claiming that only a small number of people attended and that many were present merely out of curiosity.

“The few who came were there for a fun day—it is like a case of a hyena and a sheep meeting in a market,” he added.

Cherargei also weighed in on the political dynamics within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), describing Oburu Odinga as the undisputed Luo kingpin and a central figure in the party’s leadership.

His remarks come amid heightened political activity and exchanges between leaders aligned to the government and the opposition, following a series of rallies and public engagements in different parts of the country.

The claims regarding the authenticity of the images could not be independently verified, but they add to the growing political contest over public perception and influence as the country gradually shifts focus toward the 2027 General Election.
