“Tutashinda Ruto na kura mingi sana,” says George Natembeya as he questions president’s record
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has declared that President William Ruto will not secure a second term, claiming his administration’s performance has fallen short of public expectations.
Speaking during a public address, Natembeya exuded confidence that the opposition would decisively defeat the Head of State in the next General Election.
“Tutashinda Ruto na kura mingi sana,” Natembeya said, expressing optimism that voters would turn out in large numbers to back a new leadership agenda.
The governor criticized the national government over alleged reductions in capitation funds to schools, arguing that the move has negatively affected learning institutions and parents across the country.
“Capitation kwa shule wamepunguza, na hiyo wamepunguza haikuji,” he stated, alleging that even the reduced allocations have not been disbursed effectively.
Natembeya further took issue with what he described as restrictions placed on county governments seeking to support vulnerable learners. He said governors had proposed offering bursaries to help feed school children, but the national government reportedly objected.
“Wakati magavana tumesema tupatiane bursary tu hata ya kulisha watoto chakula, wamesema hiyo sio kazi yetu. National government na hamlet pesa?” he posed.
The remarks come amid growing political debate over education funding and the division of roles between county and national governments. Education remains a key campaign issue, with leaders trading blame over funding gaps, delayed disbursements, and rising costs of living.
Neither the Office of the President nor the Ministry of Education had responded to Natembeya’s claims by the time of publication.
As political temperatures gradually rise ahead of the next polls, leaders across the divide are sharpening their rhetoric, setting the stage for what could be a heated contest.
