Sudi Leads Support for Family of Late Photographer Nick Kosgei After Helicopter Crash

Oscar Kipchumba Sudi, the Member of Parliament for Kapseret Constituency, has extended financial support to the family of the late photographer Nick Kosgei, who lost his life in a recent helicopter crash.

During a visit to the bereaved family, the legislator donated Sh350,000 to Kosgei’s father to support funeral arrangements and assist the family during the difficult period.

Sudi also presented Sh150,000 to friends and colleagues of the deceased from Maseno University, where Kosgei studied and built strong connections with fellow students and creatives.

In addition, the Kapseret MP delivered Sh2 million that had been pledged earlier by William Samoei Ruto, the President of Kenya, to support the family following the tragic loss.

Speaking during the event, Sudi described Kosgei as a talented and hardworking young man whose passion for photography had earned him respect among peers and in the media industry.

“This is a painful loss to the family and to the many young people who worked with him. As leaders, we must stand with the family during this difficult moment,” Sudi said.

The MP said the financial contributions were meant to ease the burden on the family as they prepare to lay their son to rest.

Kosgei’s colleagues from Maseno University also mourned him as a dedicated and talented photographer who had inspired many young creatives pursuing careers in media and digital storytelling.

They said his work had gained recognition among fellow students and professionals, noting that his untimely death had left a huge gap among friends and colleagues.

The helicopter crash that claimed Kosgei’s life shocked many in the region, with leaders and residents sending messages of condolence to the family.

Sudi urged young people to remain focused on their dreams despite life’s challenges, saying Kosgei’s determination and passion for photography should inspire others.

Family members thanked the leaders and friends who had come forward to support them, saying the contributions would help them give their son a dignified send-off.

Preparations for Kosgei’s burial are ongoing as relatives, friends, and colleagues continue to mourn the young photographer whose life was cut short in the tragic accident.
