Nashon Odhiambo Kondiwa Appointed New NTSA Director General
Nashon Odhiambo Kondiwa has been appointed as the new Director General of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), taking the helm of the agency responsible for road safety, vehicle registration, and driver licensing across the country.
Kondiwa, who previously served as NTSA’s Deputy Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), brings over two decades of experience in ICT, innovation, and public sector management. His leadership is expected to drive digitalisation of services, improve efficiency, and reduce road fatalities.
The NTSA Board expressed confidence in Kondiwa’s ability to steer the Authority toward greater operational excellence and enhanced service delivery. “We are confident in his leadership and vision to advance NTSA’s mandate and implement innovative solutions,” said the Board in a statement.
Kenyans in the diaspora have also welcomed the appointment, particularly those in Australia, who hope for the introduction of electronic smart driving licence (SDL) machines in cities like Canberra and Perth to facilitate easier access to NTSA services abroad.
As he assumes this critical role, Kondiwa faces the dual challenge of modernising Kenya’s transport systems while continuing the push for road safety improvements. Stakeholders remain optimistic that his appointment will mark a new era of efficiency and innovation for NTSA.
