KISE Lecturers Engage Parents at MCEDO Beijing in Mathare 4B

Lecturers from the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), conducted a powerful outreach visit at MCEDO Beijing Centre in Mathare 4B, bringing together parents and children for an interactive engagement session.

The visit created a safe space for open discussion, shared learning, and encouragement, enabling parents to better understand their children’s needs and potential. Through the session, families gained deeper awareness that their children are not “slow learners,” but individuals with abilities, dreams, and the same right to thrive with the right support.

The engagement strengthened awareness, promoted acceptance, and restored hope within the community , reinforcing one clear message.
