Generali Storms Kapsabet Police Station Over Alleged Vehicle Damage
Drama unfolded at Kapsabet Police Station after Collins Chepkulei, popularly known as “Generali,” stormed the station in the company of his supporters demanding answers over the alleged damage of his vehicle by traffic police officers.
Chepkulei, who gained prominence last year for spearheading the establishment of Cheboror Police Station in Uasin Gishu County, accused officers of mishandling his vehicle during a traffic stop two weeks ago.
According to Chepkulei, the incident occurred during what he described as a routine traffic offence, but he claimed the situation escalated, resulting in damage to his car. He said attempts to seek redress through official channels had not yielded satisfactory feedback, prompting his decision to present himself at the station.
Witnesses said the group arrived at the station chanting slogans and demanding accountability from the officers involved. Police officers were forced to manage the growing crowd to prevent further escalation. No injuries or arrests were reported.
Addressing the media outside the station, Chepkulei urged security officers to uphold professionalism and resist political interference. He emphasized that the National Police Service must remain neutral and serve all Kenyans fairly.
“Police officers must not allow themselves to be used for political purposes. They are mandated to protect and serve every citizen without bias,” he said.
Police sources indicated that the matter is under internal review and assured the public that appropriate action would be taken once investigations are complete.
The incident has ignited debate among residents over police accountability and the conduct of traffic officers, with calls for transparency in handling complaints involving members of the public.
