Dr. Wangwe Hosts Danida Officials in Review of County Primary Healthcare Programmes

 



County Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health Dr. Paul Wangwe on Tuesday hosted officials from the Danish International Development Agency (Danida).


The Danish organization are in Uasin Gishu on a routine support supervision visit to assess the implementation Danida-funded health programmes in the county.


Dr. Wangwe said the partnership aligns with Governor Dr Jonathan Bii’s Nguzo Kumi development agenda, specifically the Second Pillar on Health, which seeks to ensure accessible, quality and affordable healthcare for all residents.


Danida is supporting all 47 counties to strengthen Level 2 and Level 3 health facilities through operations and maintenance funding, while also piloting support for Level 1 community units to reinforce primary healthcare at the grassroots. 


The visit reviewed the utilization of Danida funds, including the county government’s counterpart contributions.


The delegation toured Kapsoya Health Centre and Cheplasgei Dispensary, where they assessed the delivery of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) services, community outreach programmes, training of Community Health Promoters (CHPs), and overall standards of care.


Danida representative Michael Nyali commended the county for its prudent use of partner support, highlighting the critical role played by Community Health Promoters in defaulter tracing and sustaining continuity of care.


Promotive and Preventive Health Director, Dr. Laban Kiprop reaffirmed the county’s commitment to strengthening partnerships, enhancing accountability and continuously improving health service delivery.
