UDA Focused on Unity as Leaders Push for Early Talks Ahead of 2027 Polls

Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot has said the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) remains committed to engaging like-minded political parties as part of efforts to promote national unity and political stability ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Cheruiyot said the ruling party would not be distracted from pursuing political arrangements aimed at strengthening cohesion across the country, noting that inclusive politics is key to sustainable development and peaceful elections.

He expressed confidence that the Nyanza region would rally behind President William Ruto in the 2027 polls, attributing the optimism to ongoing development projects in the region and the inclusive approach adopted by the Broad-Based Government.

“The Broad-Based Government has demonstrated that leadership is about inclusion and delivery, not exclusion,” Cheruiyot said.

His remarks come amid growing calls by leaders in both the National Assembly and the Senate for early pre-election engagement between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and UDA.

National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed and Senate Majority Leader Cheruiyot said that initiating talks early between the two parties would help lay the foundation for a stable political alliance capable of forming the next government.

The leaders noted that early dialogue would reduce political uncertainty, foster consensus on key national issues, and ensure that political competition does not derail development priorities.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, the push for structured political engagement is increasingly being viewed by leaders as a strategic move to safeguard national stability and promote issue-based politics.
