Senator Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Congratulates Newly Elected KNUT Officials

Specially Elected Senator Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga has congratulated teachers elected to various leadership positions following the ongoing Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) elections being conducted across the country.

In a statement, the Senator lauded the democratic spirit that characterized the elections, noting that teachers were able to freely and peacefully exercise their right to choose leaders of their preference without interference or undue influence.

“The quest for union leadership requires deep engagement, persuasion, and trust-building among teachers. These elections have reaffirmed the strength of democratic practice within KNUT,” said Senator Nyaituga.

She called on the newly elected officials to remain firm, principled, and steadfast as they begin discharging their mandates, reminding them that they serve as trustees of the teaching fraternity.

“Their effectiveness will be measured by the vigour and commitment with which they advance the interests of teachers. Their foremost responsibility is to safeguard teachers’ welfare, rights, and professional growth,” she said.

Senator Nyaituga expressed confidence that the new leadership would usher in positive change, strengthen advocacy, and deliver lasting impact within the union and the wider education sector.

She further reiterated her commitment to working closely with KNUT officials on matters affecting education and the teaching profession in Kenya.

“I wish all the elected officials well and look forward to constructive collaboration in advancing education and the welfare of teachers,” she said.
