President William Ruto Engages UDA Grassroots Leaders at Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri
President William Ruto on Saturday hosted United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grassroots officials from Nyeri County at Sagana State Lodge, underscoring efforts to strengthen party structures and mobilise support ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
The meeting brought together thousands of local UDA leaders, including polling station representatives and ward officials, in discussions aimed at enhancing coordination and communication between national leadership and the party’s grassroots base.
President Ruto emphasized the importance of an active and organised party network that can effectively relay government programmes and policies to citizens at the ward and village levels. Leaders present discussed ways to fortify UDA’s presence and responsiveness across the region.
Speaking at the gathering, the Head of State also reiterated his development record and took aim at opposition leaders, framing UDA’s agenda as driven by delivery of tangible results rather than divisive politics.
The Sagana engagement is part of a broader series of consultations with regional party structures, following grassroots elections held across the country to elect UDA officials at the lowest levels.
Nyeri County, historically a significant political region, was visibly adorned in party colours during the event. Top national and local UDA figures were in attendance, signaling a concerted push to consolidate grassroots support within the region.
Governor Mutahi Kahiga, among other leaders present, voiced conditional support for President Ruto’s agenda — indicating willingness to unite behind the national leader should government promises materialize locally.
Political analysts view the Nyeri meeting as strategic for UDA’s broader organisational momentum, especially in the face of evolving political dynamics within the Mt Kenya region ahead of forthcoming national polls.
