President Ruto Takes Part in UDA Grassroots Elections in Uasin Gishu
President William Samoei Ruto on Tuesday participated in the ongoing United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grassroots elections at Koilelel Primary School in Uasin Gishu County, as the ruling party continues its nationwide exercise to elect party officials.
The Head of State arrived at the polling centre in the morning, where he joined party members in casting his vote. His participation underscored the party’s emphasis on internal democracy and grassroots engagement as UDA seeks to strengthen its structures from the village level upwards.
Speaking briefly to journalists after voting, President Ruto reaffirmed his commitment to democratic processes within political parties, saying strong grassroots leadership is key to effective representation and service delivery. He urged party members to conduct the exercise peacefully and to respect the outcomes.
The UDA grassroots elections are being held across the country to elect officials at the polling centre, ward, constituency, and county levels. Party leaders have said the process is aimed at empowering members and ensuring that leadership reflects the will of the people at the grassroots.
Security was heightened at Koilelel Primary School as party members turned out to take part in the exercise, with electoral officials overseeing the voting to ensure transparency and order.
The elections are expected to continue in various regions in the coming days, after which the party will move to the next phase of its internal electoral calendar.
