Murkomen Steps In to Support Needy Student, Secures Education Future
A young girl’s courage and determination have transformed her life after Interior Cabinet Secretary Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen intervened to support her education following a heartfelt appeal.
Irene Cherop had been staying at home after completing primary school, unable to join Junior Secondary School due to lack of school fees. Her situation changed when she bravely approached CS Murkomen during a visit to Kabaldamet Primary School and directly appealed for assistance to continue her education.
Moved by her plea, CS Murkomen committed to supporting Irene’s schooling, underscoring the government’s resolve to ensure that no child is denied education due to financial constraints. True to his word, the Cabinet Secretary facilitated her admission to St. Joseph Kipsaina, where she has now officially joined as a student.
Speaking on the matter, Murkomen emphasized that education remains a key pillar of national development and social mobility, noting that every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn and realize their potential regardless of their background.
Irene’s successful enrollment marks a new chapter in her life, offering renewed hope and a secure future. Her story has been hailed as a reminder of the importance of leadership that listens and responds to the needs of ordinary citizens, especially vulnerable children seeking a chance to build a better tomorrow.
