Hon. Chris Wamalwa Signals Move from FORD Kenya to UDA, Eyes Party Secretary Position

Incoming Trans-Nzoia Governor Hon. Chris Wamalwa has announced plans to leave FORD Kenya and join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), signaling his intention to contest for the position of UDA Secretary, currently held by a prominent East African politician.

Speaking to journalists, Wamalwa revealed that his move is part of a strategic plan to strengthen his political influence within the party and challenge the current leadership.

“Na nikiingia UDA, I’m going to run for the Secretary of UDA ambaye imeshikiliwa na yule jamaa wa East Africa. Tutapambana na yeye khomundu khomundu,” Wamalwa said, emphasizing his readiness to compete vigorously.

He added that he will not pursue the position alone, noting support from key political figures:

“Siwezi enda peke yangu, juu Mudavadi aliniambia ako lonely. Kwa hivyo tulieni mambo bado,” he stated, highlighting ongoing consultations and alliances ahead of the internal party race.

Political analysts note that Wamalwa’s move could signal a realignment within regional politics, as several leaders consider shifting allegiances ahead of upcoming party nominations and the 2027 general elections.

Wamalwa, who is set to assume office as Trans-Nzoia Governor, appears to be positioning himself for a prominent role within UDA’s national structure, potentially influencing the party’s strategies in the Rift Valley and beyond.

This development adds to the growing trend of political repositioning in Kenya’s evolving party landscape, with leaders seeking stronger platforms ahead of the next election cycle.
