Government Issues 986 Title Deeds in Kisima Settlement Scheme, Nakuru County
The Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development, Hon. Alice Wahome, today issued 986 title deeds to residents of Kisima Settlement Scheme in Njoro Sub County, Nakuru County.
Speaking at the Scheme, the Cabinet Secretary, accompanied by Lands and Physical Planning Principal Secretary, Generali Nixon Korir, stated that of the issued titles, 433 belong to settled Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Kisima, 30 to public utilities, 45 to former workers, and the remainder to the Kiptuko Group.
“Today is more than a land allocation exercise; it is the restoration of dignity, stability, and hope. After years of waiting, uncertainty, and court processes, the 433 families who were displaced can finally call Kisima home. This Government made a promise to settle the landless, and today we are fulfilling it,” said CS Wahome.
She noted that despite prolonged legal challenges and historical disputes, the Government remained committed to a fair, transparent, and lawful process, emphasizing that today’s issuance of titles confirms the Government does not abandon its people.
Principal Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning, Hon. Generali Nixon Korir, said the Government remains steadfast in its commitment to settle the landless and fulfill the promises made to Kenyans, ensuring that every family owns the land and security they rightfully deserve.
Speaking at the same event, Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika expressed her joy that the IDPs would no longer have to struggle for land.
“Today is a day of joy for Njoro and Nakuru County. Families who have waited for years can finally settle on their own land, build their homes, and plan for the future. Kisima is no longer just a farm; it is a community of hope, opportunity, and new beginnings,” said Governor Kihika.
Also present during the event were Nakuru County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara, Njoro MP Charity Kathambi Chepkwony, Nakuru Town East MP Hon. David Gikaria, and several Members of the County Assembly among other leaders.
The 1,112-acre Kisima farm was acquired by the Government in 2012 through the Settlement Fund Trustees (SFT), with the primary objective of settling 433 IDP families who had been camping in pipeline areas within Nakuru County.
