Ombudsman Holds ‘Meet with the Chairperson’ Forum at New Eldoret Office
The Chairperson of the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), Office of the Ombudsman, Mr. Charles Dulo, EBS, on Friday, January 30, 2026, held a “Meet with the Ombudsman” day at the newly commissioned North Rift Regional Office in Eldoret, in a move aimed at strengthening access to administrative justice for citizens in the region.
The engagement brought together members of the public who have lodged complaints with the Commission, giving them a rare opportunity to directly interact with the Chairperson, seek clarifications, and push for the expedited resolution of long-standing cases.
Speaking during the forum, Mr. Dulo said the initiative reflects the Commission’s commitment to people-centred service delivery and responsive public administration.
“This forum is about listening to citizens, understanding their challenges, and ensuring that complaints are addressed in a timely, fair, and expeditious manner. Administrative justice must be accessible, practical, and responsive to the needs of the people,” he said.
The Chairperson noted that many complaints handled by the Commission relate to maladministration, abuse of power, delays in service delivery, labour disputes, and land-related grievances, issues that continue to affect citizens’ trust in public institutions.
He emphasized that the establishment of the North Rift Regional Office is part of CAJ’s broader strategy to decentralise services and bring the Ombudsman closer to the people, particularly those who may lack the resources to pursue justice through lengthy court processes.
“By bringing our services closer to the wananchi, we are not only easing the burden on courts but also restoring public confidence in oversight institutions and promoting accountability across government,” Mr. Dulo added.
Participants at the forum welcomed the initiative, saying direct engagement with the Commission’s leadership gave them renewed hope that their grievances would be resolved.
The “Meet with the Ombudsman” initiative is a key pillar in the implementation of CAJ’s constitutional mandate, reinforcing the Commission’s role as a champion of accountability, good governance, and the protection of citizens against injustice in public administration.
