Gladys Boss Shollei Pays School Fees for Orphaned Siblings in Uasin Gishu

Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei has stepped in to support an orphaned family from Kiplombe Ward by paying school fees for the children, following a public appeal that captured national attention.

The plight of the eight needy children emerged after the local area chief issued a formally stamped letter allowing them to seek public donations, a move that sparked widespread discussion and sympathy online. The family’s situation was later highlighted in a feature aired by Citizen TV on Tuesday, bringing renewed focus to their struggles.

Touched by the report, Ms. Boss Shollei visited the family of Esther Akoth Wesonga at Sirikwa Quarry in Kiplombe Ward, Turbo Constituency, where she held discussions with the children and guardians regarding their immediate education needs.

“Their biggest challenge is school fees, and I have initiated plans to ensure the children return to class as soon as possible,” the Woman Representative said during the visit.

She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting vulnerable children across the county, emphasizing that access to education remains a fundamental right. “Every child deserves an education, regardless of their background or circumstances,” she noted.

Residents and local leaders welcomed the intervention, describing it as a timely lifeline for the children, many of whom had been forced to stay out of school due to financial constraints.

The case has reignited conversations around child welfare, poverty, and the role of leaders and communities in safeguarding the future of vulnerable children in Uasin Gishu County.
