Gachagua Hosts DCP Legislators for Three-Day Strategy Retreat at the Coast

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hosted legislators affiliated with the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) for a three-day strategic retreat at the Coast, bringing together like-minded leaders to reflect on the past year and chart a political roadmap ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a statement issued during the retreat, Gachagua said the meeting was aimed at evaluating the political developments of the previous year and strengthening preparations for the future, including what he described as a decisive political moment for the country on August 10, 2027.

“I am honored to host like-minded legislators for a three-day retreat at the Coast,” Gachagua said. “We shall have time to review the year that was and plan ahead for the year and the journey towards August 10, 2027, when Kenya will be liberated from the bad leadership we are in.”

The former deputy president said proper planning and unity among leaders would be critical in building a viable political alternative for Kenyans, noting that the retreat would focus on strategy, organization, and coordination within the party and its allied leadership.

“Our DCP Organizing Secretary, Senator Mithika, will take members through the plans for the year. Failing to plan is planning to fail,” he said.

Senior Leaders in Attendance

The retreat has drawn a significant number of elected leaders from both the Senate and the National Assembly, underscoring the growing influence of the party and its allies.

Among those in attendance are Senators John Methu, Ole Seki, John Kinyua, Kamau Murango, Karungo Thang’wa, and Joe Nyutu.

Members of Parliament present include Kamau Munyoro, Gakuya James, Wanjiku Muhia, Gitonga Mukunji, Amos Mwago, Geoffrey Wandeto, Jayne Kihara, Onesmus Ngogoyo, John Kaguchia, Kamande Mwafrika, and Wakili Muriu.

Also attending the retreat are Woman Representative Gacheri Maina, Nyeri County Assembly Speaker Hon. Gichuhi Mwangi, and Member of County Assembly David Mathenge.

Focus on Strategy and Party Growth

According to Gachagua, discussions during the retreat will center on strengthening party structures, improving coordination among elected leaders, and aligning political messaging ahead of the next electoral cycle.

He said the leaders would also assess the current political and economic situation in the country and explore ways of responding to the concerns raised by Kenyans.

“The purpose of this retreat is to ensure we are united, organized, and prepared to offer Kenyans a credible and people-centered leadership,” Gachagua said.

Looking Ahead to 2027

The former deputy president reiterated that the 2027 General Election would be a defining moment for the country, calling on leaders to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to serving the interests of citizens.

He urged legislators attending the retreat to use the forum to share ideas, strengthen teamwork, and build a shared vision for the future.

The three-day retreat is expected to conclude with a clear action plan outlining political activities, grassroots engagement, and party-building initiatives for the year ahead.
