Diaspora Affairs PS Accompanies President Ruto at NYOTA Youth Capital Disbursement in Meru
The Principal Secretary, State Department for Diaspora Affairs, Ms. Roseline Njogu, today accompanied President Dr. William Ruto, Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, and other national leaders at Kinoru Stadium, Meru County, during the disbursement of start-up capital under the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Programme.
The event benefitted over 6,000 youth drawn from Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties, marking a significant milestone in the Government’s ongoing efforts to empower young entrepreneurs and expand employment opportunities.
In his address, President Ruto reaffirmed the Government’s three-pronged strategy for job creation, focusing on local employment, online and digital work, and diaspora labour mobility pathways. The Head of State further cautioned against rogue recruitment agents who exploit vulnerable job seekers, reiterating the Government’s firm commitment to safeguarding Kenyans pursuing employment opportunities abroad.
Under the Business Support Component of the NYOTA Project, beneficiaries who successfully completed a mandatory three-day business skills training received start-up capital to enable them to launch, grow, and sustain viable enterprises.
The participation of the State Department for Diaspora Affairs underscored the Government’s integrated approach to youth empowerment, skills development, and safe labour mobility, aligned with the broader national development agenda.
