Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe Urges Mount Kenya Voters to Embrace Development-Focused Leadership

Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has urged voters in the Mount Kenya region to shun anger-driven politics and instead support leaders who prioritize long-term development.

Speaking recently, CS Kagwe emphasized the importance of continuity in leadership for sustainable growth. “Development comes when you allow good leaders to serve, to grow, and to complete what they started,” he said.

He further cautioned against voting purely to punish politicians, saying it risks weakening political influence and undermining the progress of communities. “The habit of voting just to punish politicians risks undermining political strength, and I call on the electorate to form the habit of nurturing and retaining their leaders,” Kagwe added.

CS Kagwe noted that other regions in Kenya have grown politically and economically by investing in their leaders over time, allowing them to gain experience, influence, and networks that ultimately benefit their communities.

The Cabinet Secretary’s remarks come amid growing political activity in the Mount Kenya region ahead of the 2027 general elections, highlighting the importance of strategic leadership choices in fostering development.
