Senior Counsel Eric Theuri Donates Celebration Funds to Repaint Kakamega School
Senior Counsel Eric Theuri, former President of the Law Society of Kenya, has chosen to mark a major career milestone with an act of generosity aimed at restoring his former school.
Fresh from being conferred with the prestigious rank of Senior Counsel, Theuri opted to forgo a personal celebration and instead channel Kshs 200,000—funds he had set aside for the event—towards repainting Kakamega School, his alma mater. The decision came after he observed the deteriorating condition of the institution during a recent visit.
The repainting initiative forms part of a broader restoration effort spearheaded by the school’s new Principal, aimed at reviving Kakamega School’s historic stature and improving its learning environment.
In a further show of commitment, Theuri has appealed to friends, alumni, and members of the public to support the project, with a target of raising Kshs 500,000. He noted that collective support would accelerate the facelift and ensure lasting impact. Contributions are being received via mobile number 0721 238 945, with assurances that all donors will be formally acknowledged.
“This is an opportunity to give back to the school that shaped us,” Theuri said. “Together, we can help Kakamega School regain its former beauty and continue to inspire future generations.”
The move has drawn praise from alumni and community members, many of whom see it as a powerful example of leadership, humility, and service—values Kakamega School has long sought to instill in its students.
As restoration efforts gain momentum, stakeholders hope the initiative will not only improve the school’s physical appearance but also rekindle pride among students and alumni alike.
