Senator Jackson Mandago Highlights Cultural and Economic Importance of Kimalel Goat Auction
Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago has described the annual Kimalel Goat Auction as a key platform for cultural preservation, peace-building, and economic growth in the region.
Speaking after accompanying H.E. President William Samoei Ruto to the event, Senator Mandago emphasized the auction’s role in strengthening social cohesion among communities and fostering regional development.
“The Kimalel Goat Auction is more than a livestock event; it is a critical forum where communities come together to celebrate culture, resolve differences, and build lasting peace,” said Senator Mandago.
The senator noted that the auction also provides a major boost to the local economy, attracting traders, investors, and livestock enthusiasts from across the country. He added that such events create opportunities for small-scale farmers, increase market access, and support livelihoods in the region.
Senator Mandago commended President Ruto for attending the annual event, describing it as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to supporting cultural initiatives and community development.
“The presence of the President at Kimalel sends a strong message that the government values our cultural heritage while promoting economic empowerment and unity among communities,” he said.
The Kimalel Goat Auction, held annually in Baringo County, continues to attract significant attention from political leaders, investors, and community members, reinforcing its reputation as a cornerstone of cultural identity and regional economic growth.
