Omanyo ranked 4th best woman representative at Africa Champions Awards

Homa Bay Woman Representative Hon. Catherine N. Omanyo has been recognised as the 4th Best Woman Representative at the Africa Champions Awards, in a ceremony that celebrated outstanding leadership and service by women across the continent.

The award cited Ms Omanyo’s people-centred leadership, accessibility and commitment to uplifting women and vulnerable groups in her constituency. Organisers noted that her initiatives have had a visible impact at the grassroots, particularly in social empowerment and community development programmes.

The recognition places Ms Omanyo among a select group of female leaders whose work continues to shape inclusive governance and inspire public confidence in leadership.

At the same event, Hon. Joyce Kamene was also commended for her exemplary service, further underscoring the growing influence of women leaders within Kenya’s political landscape.

The Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) welcomed the accolades, saying they reflect the dedication, vision and inclusive leadership style demonstrated by its members. The association said such recognition reinforces the importance of women’s leadership in addressing community needs and strengthening democratic governance.

KEWOPA reiterated its commitment to promoting women’s representation in leadership and decision-making, noting that celebrating excellence among women leaders helps encourage accountability, mentorship and service-driven politics.

The Africa Champions Awards recognise individuals across various sectors whose leadership contributes to positive social change and development across Africa.
