Murkomen Highlights Government Gains, Warns Against Drug Abuse in Eldoret Tour
Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has highlighted key achievements of the Kenya Kwanza administration, citing improved economic stability, enhanced security, and major infrastructure development as the country closes the year.
Speaking during an engagement with residents of Eldoret on Friday afternoon, Murkomen said the last three years had marked a period of significant progress for the country, attributing the gains to deliberate reforms and prudent governance under President William Ruto’s administration.
“The end-of-year festivities give us a moment not only to celebrate but also to reflect on how far we have come as a nation,” Murkomen said. “Kenya today enjoys greater food security, lower inflation, reduced fuel prices, a more stable currency, and an improved credit rating.”
The CS noted that government investments in affordable housing, road construction, water projects, and the hospitality sector were transforming livelihoods across the country. He added that ongoing reforms in the health and education sectors were beginning to yield positive results, strengthening the foundation for long-term, sustainable development.
According to Murkomen, these initiatives are part of a broader strategy to fast-track Kenya’s transformation into a first-world economy.
During the Eldoret meeting, the Interior CS briefed residents on ongoing and planned development projects in Uasin Gishu County and the wider North Rift region. He also addressed security concerns, assuring the public of the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability.
Murkomen issued a strong warning against drug and substance abuse, particularly among the youth, describing it as a major threat to national security and socio-economic development. He called on community leaders, parents, and religious institutions to work closely with security agencies to curb the vice.
The CS was accompanied by the Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, Gilbert Masengeli, and other senior government officials.
Murkomen concluded by urging Kenyans to remain united and supportive of government programmes, emphasizing that collective effort was key to achieving the country’s development goals.
