Murkomen Celebrates Christmas with Security Officers in Baringo, Lauds OMU Operation
Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen on Christmas Day visited the Todo Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Camp in Kolowa Sub-County, Baringo County, where he joined security officers in celebrating the festive season and commended them for their dedication to duty.
During the visit, the CS expressed appreciation for the officers serving under the multi-agency Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU), noting that their coordinated efforts have played a key role in containing banditry and restoring peace, calm, and normalcy across the Kerio Valley region.
Hon. Murkomen praised the commitment and sacrifice demonstrated by the officers, many of whom are spending the holiday season away from their families to safeguard the lives and property of residents in the region.
“The progress we are witnessing in Kerio Valley is a clear testament to the professionalism, resilience, and teamwork of our security forces. Kenyans are grateful for your service and sacrifice,” Murkomen said.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting security agencies through enhanced resources, welfare improvements, and sustained inter-agency collaboration to ensure long-term peace and stability in previously volatile areas.
The Cabinet Secretary was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service (KPS) Eliud Lagat, Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service (APS) Gilbert Masengeli, and other senior government officials.
Local leaders and security commanders briefed the delegation on the ongoing operations, highlighting significant gains made in disarming bandits, reopening roads, and enabling displaced families to return to their homes.
Operation Maliza Uhalifu continues to be implemented across parts of North Rift and other insecurity-prone regions as part of the government’s broader strategy to combat organized crime and enhance national security.
