Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi Gifting Homes to Long-Serving Employees in Boxing Day Appreciation
In an extraordinary display of appreciation and generosity, Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Kipchumba Sudi, marked this year’s Boxing Day by gifting two of his long-serving employees with brand-new, fully furnished three-bedroom bungalows. The homes, each valued at over KSh 7 million, were officially handed over during a heartfelt ceremony attended by family members, close associates, and neighbours at Sudi’s home in Kapseret.
This rare gesture of generosity comes as a reward for the employees’ loyalty, dedication, and years of service to the MP. Speaking during the event, Sudi highlighted that the gifts were not just about material wealth but were meant to honor individuals who had worked tirelessly without ever asking for recognition or any form of special treatment.
“I am here today to honour two of my employees, Hermstone Makam and Peninah Manyara, who have been part of my journey for many years. They’ve shown unparalleled loyalty and dedication. It’s only right that I give back to them and their families,” Sudi said, addressing the crowd with sincerity.
A Heartfelt Gesture to Hermstone Makam
The first recipient, Hermstone Makam, has been in Sudi’s employment for over 15 years. Their relationship began back in Nairobi when Makam used to wash the MP’s car. Impressed by his work ethic and dedication, Sudi later offered him a more stable job in Kapseret.
Makam, who stood alongside his wife and child, was visibly emotional as he received the keys to his new home. Holding back tears, he expressed his deep gratitude to the MP for the life-changing gesture.
“It feels like a dream come true. I’ve served Hon. Sudi for all these years, and he has always treated me like family. I never expected anything in return, but today, I am receiving the gift of a home. I am truly grateful,” Makam said, his voice trembling with emotion.
Sudi took the opportunity to praise Makam’s integrity, revealing that over the years, Makam had never been involved in any wrongdoing, earning the trust and respect of his entire family. “He’s seen my children grow, and they all respect him. That’s the kind of loyalty I want to reward today,” Sudi added.
Fulfilling a Promise to Peninah Manyara
The second beneficiary, Peninah Manyara, affectionately known as Mama Mungai, was overwhelmed with emotion as she received the keys to her new home. Manyara, who had been living in Langas Estate as a tenant for over two decades, had long cherished the dream of owning her own home—a dream that her late son had promised to fulfill before his untimely death.
“My son had promised me that he would build me a house before he passed away. I’ve lived here for so many years, hoping and praying that his promise would come true,” Mama Mungai said, her voice breaking with emotion as she held the keys to her new house. “Today, I feel like my son’s dream has been fulfilled, and I am so thankful to Hon. Sudi for making it happen. This is the happiest day of my life.”
Sudi shared that the promise to Mama Mungai had been made during her son’s funeral. Despite his passing, Sudi had vowed to ensure that she would not live in hardship. True to his word, the MP had worked tirelessly to ensure that Mama Mungai’s dream of owning a house was realized, with the new bungalow now standing as a testament to his commitment to fulfilling promises.
“I made a promise to Mama Mungai during her son’s funeral, and I’m happy to see it fulfilled today. It’s an emotional moment for all of us, and I pray that this gift brings peace and joy to her,” Sudi said during the ceremony.
A Broader Vision of Charity
In addition to the two homes that were handed over, Sudi revealed that he is in the process of constructing ten additional housing units to be given to other employees and loyal community members. These homes are set to be handed over in the coming weeks, with two more units already complete and ready for occupation.
“Each of these houses, including the land, costs over KSh 7 million. This is not just about the financial value; it’s about changing lives. I am building ten units in total, and more are coming up. I want to give back to those who have stood by me,” Sudi said.
Sudi emphasized that his gesture is not limited by ethnicity, tribe, or background. He wants to reward dedication and hard work across all communities, regardless of where people come from. “We should appreciate those who support us, no matter where they come from. This is about acknowledging the value of loyalty, and that is what I am doing today,” he said.
Encouraging Employers to Give Back
Sudi also took the opportunity to encourage other employers, especially those in positions of power and influence, to appreciate their employees during the festive season. He highlighted that the act of giving is a central part of Christmas, and that showing kindness to others is a key value that unites people.
“I urge other employers to look at their employees with a heart of appreciation. This is the Christmas spirit. Let us give back to those who stand with us each day. It’s not just about gifts; it’s about showing respect and gratitude,” Sudi said.
A Call for Unity and Peace Amid Political Tensions
As Kenya moves closer to the 2027 General Election, Sudi also used the occasion to call for peace and unity, stressing the need for calm and understanding in a politically charged environment. He urged Kenyans to maintain harmony and avoid violence as the nation heads into a politically sensitive period.
“I call upon all Kenyans, especially those in leadership positions, to work towards peace and unity. Our country is on the brink of a challenging time, and it’s important that we all play our part in ensuring that political temperatures remain low,” Sudi stated.
The MP specifically mentioned that political leaders should conduct themselves with respect and peaceful dialogue, encouraging civil discussions rather than heated confrontations. “Those who wish to advocate for change or new leadership should do so peacefully and with respect for one another. In the end, it is the people who will decide the future of this country in 2027,” he added.
A Continuing Legacy of Generosity
The Boxing Day event marked another significant chapter in Sudi’s philanthropic journey. Known for his outspoken political views and his charitable activities within Kapseret and beyond, the MP has continued to make waves with his acts of goodwill. From funding education for underprivileged students to offering support to the most vulnerable members of society, Sudi’s commitment to giving back remains unwavering.
“I am committed to serving the people, not just through politics, but also by making a tangible difference in their lives. Giving is part of my daily mission, and I hope this gesture inspires others to do the same,” Sudi concluded.
As the event wrapped up, the beneficiaries and attendees were filled with gratitude and optimism, knowing that the spirit of Christmas had indeed been embodied through the kindness and generosity of one Kapseret’s most influential leaders.
