PSC Issues Stern Directive: Employees Must Comply Before Deadline or Face Action

In a move aimed at tightening accountability and improving service delivery, the Public Service Commission (PSC) has issued a directive mandating all government employees to comply with newly established operational guidelines before the fast-approaching deadline. Failure to adhere, the Commission warns, will result in disciplinary action.

The directive, released earlier this week, outlines a series of administrative and performance-related expectations that public servants must fulfill. These include timely submission of work plans, adherence to ethical codes, and completion of mandatory training modules. The PSC emphasized that the reforms are part of a broader effort to enhance transparency, efficiency, and public trust in government institutions.

“The Commission will not tolerate laxity or non-compliance,” said PSC Chairperson Dr. Margaret Kobia. “Every employee is expected to meet the outlined requirements. Those who fail to do so will face consequences ranging from formal warnings to suspension or termination, depending on the severity of the breach.”

Departments have been instructed to submit compliance reports by the end of the month. Already, internal audits have begun to assess progress, and early indications suggest that while many employees are on track, some lag behind.

Public reaction has been mixed. While some citizens applaud the move as long overdue, others worry about the potential for unfair targeting or rushed enforcement. Nonetheless, the PSC remains firm.

“This is not about punishment,” Dr. Kobia added. “It’s about restoring integrity and ensuring that public service lives up to its name.”

As the deadline looms, all eyes are on government offices across the country. Whether the directive will usher in a new era of discipline or stir controversy remains to be seen.
