NGAAF Boosts Women’s Basket Weaving Enterprise in Makueni

The National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) has extended fresh support to women artisans in Makueni County as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots enterprises through value addition.

During a visit to the King'ong'i Community-Based Organization in Kisau/Kiteta Ward, Mbooni Constituency, NGAAF officials observed the impressive craftsmanship of local women specializing in basket weaving, a skill that has become a key economic lifeline for the community.

Under the leadership of Makueni County NGAAF Patron, Hon. Rose Museo Mumo, the fund allocated financial assistance to the group to enhance value addition and improve the quality and marketability of their products. The support is expected to help the women scale up production and better position themselves for opportunities in regional and international markets.

The initiative forms part of the broader NGAAF Value Addition Programme, which aims to transform small-scale ventures into sustainable, competitive businesses.

Hon. Mumo, known for her hands-on and compassionate approach to community development, reaffirmed her commitment to expanding economic opportunities for women and youth in the county.
