Likoni Sub-County Empowered with Ksh. 35 Million NGAAF Funds to Boost Women and Youth Development

Today marked a significant milestone for the people of Likoni Sub-county as over Ksh. 35 million worth of National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) cheques and empowerment funds were officially issued to various women and youth groups across the region.

The colourful ceremony, held at Shika Adabu Primary School, was hosted by the Area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Hon. Juma Letarazi Mwalimu Kambi. The event drew a large crowd of enthusiastic residents, community leaders, and local entrepreneurs who gathered to celebrate this vital step towards community empowerment and socio-economic progress.

Among the distinguished guests was the Speaker of the Mombasa County Assembly, Hon. Aharub Ebrahim Khatri, who, together with several MCAs, lauded the initiative as a testament to the government’s ongoing commitment to uplifting grassroots communities.

Speaking during the event, leaders emphasized that the funds will play a pivotal role in supporting education, boosting small businesses, and empowering women and youth—key pillars in the county’s vision for inclusive growth.

“These funds are not just financial support; they are an investment in our people’s potential,” said Hon. Kambi. “By empowering our women and youth, we are laying the foundation for a more self-reliant and prosperous Likoni.”

Residents expressed optimism that the empowerment program would help transform livelihoods by creating new opportunities in entrepreneurship, vocational skills, and education.

The event underscored a unifying theme—that investing in people is the surest way to secure a brighter, stronger future for Likoni and Mombasa County as a whole.
