Kilifi County Welcomes National Leaders Ahead of International Children’s Day Celebrations
Kilifi County today welcomed Hon. Hanna Wendot Cheptumo, Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture and Social Services, together with a delegation of senior national officials, ahead of the 2025 International Children’s Day celebrations scheduled for tomorrow at the Karisa Maitha Grounds in Kilifi.
Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa Chibule led the county leadership in receiving the Cabinet Secretary and her team, marking the official start of preparations for the national commemoration.
Held under the theme “My Day, My Rights,” this year’s International Children’s Day underscores the urgent need to strengthen child protection, expand opportunities for all children, and uphold their right to meaningful participation in decisions that shape their future.
Speaking during the reception, Deputy Governor Chibule reaffirmed Kilifi County’s commitment to creating a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for every child.
“Kilifi is honoured to host this year’s national celebration. We remain steadfast in safeguarding the rights, dignity, and well-being of all our children,” she said.
The event is expected to draw thousands of children, parents, caregivers, community leaders, and development partners from across the country for a day dedicated to celebrating and advancing children’s rights.
Kilifi County Government, in partnership with the Kilifi Department of Gender, Culture and Social Services and the State Department for Children Services, has put in place all necessary arrangements to ensure a successful and impactful commemoration.
