Hon. Ann Wamuratha Empowers Kikuyu Constituency Groups Through NGAAF Programme

 

 Kiambu County Woman Representative Hon. Ann Wamuratha has reaffirmed her commitment to grassroots empowerment through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) by distributing essential equipment and tools to community groups in Thamanda, Sigona Ward, Kikuyu Constituency.

The initiative, conducted under the NGAAF Empowerment Programme, aims to promote self-reliance, enhance economic productivity, and strengthen sustainable livelihoods among youth and women across the constituency.

Beneficiaries of the programme included several community groups and small-scale entrepreneurs. Thakiki Welfare Group received a tent and 100 chairs to boost their capacity to host community events and generate income. Youth car wash groups were provided with modern car wash machines to improve efficiency and expand employment opportunities.

Local salon operators benefited from UV machines, hair dryers, and blow dryers, enabling them to improve service delivery and grow their businesses. Bodaboda riders received motorbike umbrellas to enhance safety and comfort while working on the roads, while barbers were equipped with shaving machines to strengthen their grooming enterprises.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, Hon. Wamuratha described each tool provided as a “seed of growth and a symbol of empowerment,” underscoring her dedication to transforming livelihoods through practical support.

“Together, we are building a thriving Kiambu where every youth, woman, and community group has the means to transform their future,” she said.

The Woman Representative reiterated her office’s continued commitment to supporting initiatives that foster economic independence and social development, emphasizing that empowerment at the grassroots level is key to sustainable community transformation.

The NGAAF Empowerment Programme continues to play a vital role in uplifting vulnerable groups across Kiambu County, ensuring that local communities have access to the resources and opportunities needed to thrive in an evolving economy.
